Nashville Ski Club


Welcome!  Looking for folks who love to ski?   You've come to the right place!  While our 2023-24 trips are now complete, we've already announced our destinations for 2024-25:
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming, January 4-11, 2025
- Big Sky, Montana, January 18-25, 2025
- Copper Mountain, Colorado, February 23 - March 2, 2025
- Chamonix, France, March 8-16, 2025 with optional extension to Lyon

While our Chamonix trip is currently sold out, members may add their names to the waiting list. See the Chamonix trip page for more info.  You must be logged in to this site to be able to add your name to the list.

Missed the April meeting?  Be sure to join us for our May 7th meeting at Agave's Mexican Restaurant in Belle Meade.  We'll have a few tidbits regarding next season's ski trips as well as info about upcoming social activities.  Guests and Visitors are always welcome!

Did you catch us at the Nashville Outdoor Recreation Festival & Expo at Bells Bend Park on April 13?  We had absolutely perfect weather for the event and had a great time letting folks know about our club.

Our April meeting was at Corner Pub in Brentwood where we elected officers and directors for the upcoming fiscal year.  The folks who went to Whitefish shared their stories as we look forward to an off-season with warm-weather events.

Our final trip of the season was to Whitefish, Montana.  We had gorgeous views, saw snow ghosts, enjoyed a day trip to Glacier National Park and some even went snowshoeing.  Does it get any better?  We've already announced trips for next season.  Join now and you'll be able to sign up for them in July!

At our March membership meeting we not only reported on our Breckenridge trip and had a send-off for those on the Whitefish trip, we presented our 2025 Chamonix trip and began taking sign-ups for it!

We hiked David Crockett State Park on February 17th.  It was chilly but beautiful!  There are more photos in our Photo Gallery. Join us for our next hike on March 23rd.

We went to see the Predators again on Tuesday, February 13th as they took on the New Jersey Devils.  We had a great time even though they lost.

We had our February Membership Meeting at Crow's Nest in Green Hills on February 6th. We got the scoop from those who'd just returned from Banff and gave a send-off to those who will be leaving for Breckenridge at the end of the month.  Next meeting is March 5th - don't miss it!

At the end of January we crossed our northern border and visited the town of Banff and the "Big 3" resorts nearby: Lake Louise, Banff Sunshine, Mt. Norquay.  You can see these photos and more in our Photo Gallery .

Favorite ski resort? Big Sky, Montana, Vail, Colorado

What’s the best trip (traveling wise) you ever had?
I have to say Hawaii for my Honeymoon or I'll get in a fight! 😂 But I think it is a tie between our 14-day cruise to the Eastern Med for our 25th anniversary or Bare Boat Sailing on the Caribbean.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
Somewhere on the beach with quick access to an airport to go skiing.

Are you a member of any other clubs or organizations?
I am currently Chairman for the American Filtration Society

What’s your favorite seat on an airplane?
Aisle seat but more specifically the two-seat exit aisle on Southwest with my wife. No middle seat.

How many countries have you visited outside the US?
Canada, England, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, Monaco, Greece, Dominican Republic, Netherlands

What is your favorite zoo animal?
Polar Bears

What is your favorite candy or treat?
Toblerone

What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?
Beef Tendon, Jellyfish, Crickets

What is your favorite dessert?
Tie between Tiramisu and Creme Brulee

What is your favorite hobby?
Skiing, Cooking, Exercise

What are your other favorite sports to participate in?
Softball, Basketball, Tennis, Pickleball

What are your favorite sports to watch?
Football, Basketball and Hockey

What crazy activities do you dream of trying someday?
Skydiving

Do you have any hidden talents? What can you do?
I'm a great procrastinator, Great at math and science. Fixing things.

Where and when would you time-travel, if it were possible?
To either meet Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton or Leonardo DaVinci.

What show did you binge watch embarrassingly fast?
Banshee.....don't ask but great. Also, Schitt's Creek and Yellowstone.

What movie can you rewatch over and over again?
Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Constantine, John Wick.

What is your favorite holiday? Xmas

What is your favorite job you’ve ever had?
When I first started out in the mid '80s. I worked with Dr. David B Pall and Isaac Vasserman. Two incredible mentors.

Who is your favorite cartoon character and why?
The Ant & the Aardvark.  Voices of Jackie Mason and John Byner

During the pandemic did you learn a new skill or improve an old one?
Tried to be good at working from home but was never good at it and couldn't wait to go back to the office. Did play a lot more piano though.

Do you have a famous (or infamous) relative or some other kind of celebrity connection?
My father looked exactly like Richard Castellano (Clemenza) from The Godfather. Same last name but no proof.
