Wendy Blue

Hometown: Bronx, NY. Raised in NY and CT.
When did you first join the ski club? 2004
Ski club offices held: I was president for one year and on the board for several. I co-led several trips with the wonderful Patty Meeks.
Favorite ski resort? It's a toss-up: Big Sky, Telluride, Steamboat

What was your first trip with the club?
First trip was in 2005 to Perfect North. That was the first time I put skis on my feet and learned to ski, sort of.  🙃 Thanks to Joe Moreau, I learned how to get on and off a chairlift. He never complained when I pretty much took him down with me every time I fell. He sacrificed a couple of hours out of his day to help me work on the skills I (barely) learned during my first-ever ski lesson. He was such a trooper.

What’s the best trip you ever had?
My favorite trip for experiencing natural beauty was the clubs’ recent trip to Chamonix. My favorite trip overall was to Steamboat many years ago where I met so many wonderful people, enjoyed Apres Ski at the Slopeside Grill laughing until my cheeks hurt. That’s the trip where the club did a Conga line while Bob Fortner brought the house down playing the fiddle. True friendships were formed on the trip and I look forward to skiing again with these wonderful folks.

Where do you live now?
I moved to Minnesota in 2016 and have been on three trips with the club since I moved.

What is your favorite dessert?
Hand-down, ice cream

What is your favorite hobby?
I love to work in my yard/garden in the summer

What are your other favorite sports to participate in?
I keep active by walking, hiking, riding my bike and playing Pickleball.

During the pandemic did you learn a new skill or improve an old one?
I learned to appreciate quiet time.
