The weather was hot but the water helped cool us down as we enjoyed a float trip on the Caney Fork River on June 12th.  Our next float is a sunset kayak later this month.

We had a great time paddling on the Duck River on May 22nd.  Be sure to join us in June on the Caney Fork!

At our May Membership Meeting we enjoyed waterfront dining at Sam's Sports Grill in Blue Turtle Bay. It was nice to see folks again as our thoughts turn toward finalizing next season's trips! Join us in June as we'll visit Blue Moon Grille in Rock Harbor Marina.

We had terrific weather for our meeting at The Crow's Nest where we were able to have a great time as well as our annual elections.  If you missed it, be sure to join us next month! Before you know it we'll have solid info on our trips for next season.

When did you first join the ski club:
Favorite ski Resort: Okemo Mtn in Ludlow, VT – It was our family resort for 25 years while living in Connecticut.  However, I’m now focused on skiing west of the Mississippi.

You don’t live in Nashville, how did you come to join the ski club?
My wife and I are country music fans, have been coming to Nashville for 15 years and have been owners of a condo downtown for the past 11 years.  Name a country performer and we have probably heard them live, some whom we have traveled to other cities to attend their concert.

What’s the best trip (traveling wise) you ever had?
My best ski trip was to Jackson Hole  in 2020, sponsored by the club.  Great conditions, great group of people and fun apres-ski activities.

Are you a member of any other clubs or organizations?
Space Coast Freewheelers cycling club in Central Florida.  Riding a bike in a group pace line is an interesting way to share an activity.

What is your favorite zoo animal?
I particularly enjoy aviaries, particularly if designed to such that birds are flying freely within the building. No one bird type, but the diversity of colors and adaptations to the environment are fascinating.

What are your favorite sports to watch?
I enjoy a range of sports, but attending the event, being part of the crowd, is vastly more enjoyable than watching on TV.

What movie can you rewatch over and over again?
Ground Hog Day.  A takeaway message for me is to use time wisely and constructively, no matter how boring the day, as Bill Murray’s character ultimately realized.  Reminds me of the past year of limitations due to COVID-19.  Also, he gets the girl (Andie MacDowell) in the end.

What is your favorite job you’ve ever had?
Pharmaceutical R&D.  I spent 34 years working at Pfizer and have continued working as a part time consultant with small biotech companies since retirement.
