Keystone 2026, Never a dull moment but smiles a-plenty!
With the ice storm of 2026 bearing down on Nashville the day that we were supposed to leave for the Keystone trip, our vigilant trip leader sprang into action and got us out on a flight the night before to make sure that we got out of Nashville and not stuck at the airport. We had 22 members of the club at Keystone soaking up the powder lined trails thanks to some fresh snow that they received before we got in town. To date, Keystone luckily had the best snow conditions of any Colorado resort that most definitely worked out in our favor for all to enjoy. It was a tough snow year out west everywhere, but we had plenty of bluebird days to ride the mountain, most of which was open, and even got the delight of the resort opening up the Bergman Bowl later in the week for us to carve some fresh turns with some incredible views.
Thanks to Robert Johnson, we did not leave this trip hungry because of some well thought out planning, here's where we had our group meals for the week:
The Welcoming: Opening night reception at Groovy's Mac ~N~ Cheesy right in the heart of River Run Village.
Taco Mania: With another short walk right in River Run Village, we got our fair share of nachos, chips and salsa, guacamole and whatever anyone wanted to order on the menu at Lime. It was tasty!
A Touch Of Elegance: Some fine dining was had in a cozy fireplace setting at Montezuma. Where was it you might ask? Right there in River Run Village, hence the note earlier about well thought-out planning; everything was so easy to get to.
The Cherry On Top: For our last night at altitude, we all got together at Bob and the gang's condo to munch on some Last Chance Pizza which hit the spot to cap off the week.
The group on this trip really made for an awesome week of skiing and great comradery. Several of us went home to no power, unfortunately, but we all left in high spirits thanks to a terrific week.
