In late February we visited Telluride and were blessed with gorgeous sunshine almost every day.  Is it any wonder this is one of our club's favorite resorts?!

In early February we took a group to Steamboat and had an outstanding time. We had a great welcome party and a couple of other group dinners included.  Steamboat is a club favorite and if you missed this trip, you missed out!

With ice still lingering around much of the area, our Gastronomic Gallivant saw a smaller-than-usual group but these gals still had a great time and enjoyed some wonderful food.

At our February meeting we welcomed back the folks who went on our Winter Park and Keystone trips and loved catching up on all the inside scoop from those trips.  Some of our folks still had no power after the prior week's ice storm so they were glad to join us in the warmth.  Miss this meeting? Join us next month in Donelson!

Our second trip of the season was to Keystone, a place we hadn't visited in over 10 years!  While the weather started out very cold, by mid-week it was glorious.  Thanks to our "local" guide, Robert Johnson (in red), who gave us the inside scoop on the mountain.  We won't wait 10+ years to go back!

We kicked off our 2026 ski trips with a visit to Winter Park, Colorado on January 4-11.  Over 20 of us escaped the Nashville humidity for the clean mountain air.  While we were there we met up with members of some other Crescent Ski Council clubs which made for an even bigger party!  See the Photo Gallery tab for even more pictures!

Our January meeting was at Crow's Nest in Green Hills. We had a good turnout despite some of our folks already out on the slopes in Winter Park.  Our monthly meeting is a great time for members, their guests, and visitors alike to get acquainted with other folks in the club, so be sure to join us in February for the next meeting.

On January 2nd we braved the drizzle and took in the lights at the Cheekwood estate.  Thousands of lights both inside and outside decorated the mansion and grounds.  There are loads more photos in the Photo Gallery.

We kicked off the New Year with a Hangover Hike at Longhunter State Park.  While most of our hikes begin early in the morning, we made allowances for the previous night and eased into this one mid-morning.

We had over 30 club members attend the Crescent Ski Week at Steamboat in early December.  This camp is a great chance to start the season early.  The package price includes 5 full-day ski lessons, several lunches, a welcome reception, a dinner, and swag to bring home.  If you missed it this year, be ready to sign up in June for next year's trip!

Did you know a number of our current and past members play golf together most weeks?  While they usually stick to Metro Nashville public courses, on November 14th they headed down to Fall Creek Falls to play.  It was a gorgeous day and they had a lot of fun!

Hometown: Manchester, England
When did you first join the ski club? 2024
Favorite ski resort? Keystone

Where else in the world have you lived?
I've had the privilege of calling many places home, including the vibrant city of London, the vast landscapes of Edmonton, Alberta – where I first truly embraced the slopes of the Canadian Rockies in Jasper, Lake Louise, and Banff – and the dynamic energy of Dubai, before settling here in the US in the early 80s.

Any favorite traveling memories?
Outside of my professional life, adventure has always called to me. Having explored 52 countries across the globe, it's hard to pick a single favorite, but the breathtaking wildlife and vibrant culture I encountered on a safari in the Masai Mara remain an unparalleled memory.

What are your other favorite sports to participate in?
Staying active is incredibly important to me; I run almost daily with a wonderful group of six ladies. We've shared countless miles, including five marathons – Chicago holds a special place in my heart for its incredible energy and atmosphere.

What is your favorite job you’ve ever had?
My professional path has been as varied as my residential addresses, centered always around caring for others. I trained as both a Registered Nurse and a Midwife, and leading the emergency room in Dubai during the late 70s was an exhilarating chapter, offering some of the most dynamic and rewarding experiences of my career. And then, a profound shift: my last decade in nursing was spent as a Hospice Practitioner. It was an extraordinary privilege to transition from helping bring new life into the world as a midwife, to guiding and supporting individuals and their families on their final journey. The depth of humanity witnessed in both roles has been truly humbling.

I'm genuinely thrilled about joining the ski club, and we owe a huge thank you to Kim and Harry Ristau for inviting us into such a vibrant group!
