In late February we visited Telluride and were blessed with gorgeous sunshine almost every day.  Is it any wonder this is one of our club's favorite resorts?!

In early February we took a group to Steamboat and had an outstanding time. We had a great welcome party and a couple of other group dinners included.  Steamboat is a club favorite and if you missed this trip, you missed out!

With ice still lingering around much of the area, our Gastronomic Gallivant saw a smaller-than-usual group but these gals still had a great time and enjoyed some wonderful food.

At our February meeting we welcomed back the folks who went on our Winter Park and Keystone trips and loved catching up on all the inside scoop from those trips.  Some of our folks still had no power after the prior week's ice storm so they were glad to join us in the warmth.  Miss this meeting? Join us next month in Donelson!

Our second trip of the season was to Keystone, a place we hadn't visited in over 10 years!  While the weather started out very cold, by mid-week it was glorious.  Thanks to our "local" guide, Robert Johnson (in red), who gave us the inside scoop on the mountain.  We won't wait 10+ years to go back!

Lea Brosky

Hometown: Nashville
When did you first join the ski club? 1991
Ski club offices held: Board Member, Webmaster, Newsletter Editor, Assistant Trip Leader
Favorite ski resort? Big Sky

What’s the best trip (traveling wise) you ever had?
Possibly my 2019 trip with two friends to New Zealand and Australia.  Among the three of us we had 30 flight segments, over 60,000 miles flown on six different airlines.  And all the bags made it on every flight and none of the flights were delayed!

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
I think Australia, Iceland or Austria.  Or maybe Italy.  Ireland?  Scandinavia was awesome too.

Are you a member of any other clubs or organizations?
I play on a trivia team each week. Pre-pandemic we did well enough to make it to the "nationals" (though it didn't cover every state) a few times though we never won anything once we got there. Post-pandemic the tournaments seems to stop at the regional level.

What’s your favorite seat on an airplane?
As far as the actual seat, so far it's the Marc Newsome-designed "open suites" in Qantas A380 First Class. But it was also cool to be one of only 3 first class passengers in ANA's 777-300ER and have them make up a bed for me across the aisle!

How many countries have you visited outside the US?
35

Do you have any pets? What are their names?
I currently have a former foster dog named Franny, a black lab-mix.

What's your favorite concert you've attended?
Got to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 6 times; the first time a fellow intern won tickets to see them at Municipal Auditorium in the mid-1980s. About halfway through the show I realized I'd found a band that seemed to know just the kind of music I liked.  I also loved going to the Volunteer Jams where I learned to appreciate bands/musicians/singers of various genres.

What is your favorite zoo animal?
All of them!  Red pandas are adorable but I also love lizards.  Watching the Crocodile Hunter for many years gave me a new appreciation for animals that aren't so cute and cuddly.  It was a huge thrill to finally be able to visit Australia Zoo a few years ago.

What is your favorite candy or treat?
Dark chocolate

What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?
Yak.  Tastes pretty much like cow.

What is your favorite dessert?
Fudge pie with vanilla or chocolate chip ice cream

What is your favorite hobby?
Saving money on travel using airline miles and hotel points.  For that 2019 trip to Australia & New Zealand we only paid cash for 3 flight segments, I think, among all 3 of us.  And none of those segments were longhaul flights.  Since 2015 my travel goal has been never to fly over an ocean in economy and I've managed to make that happen except between Australia and New Zealand and Fiji.  See my blog at 2BTraveling.net for tips on earning points and miles without flying and for airline, hotel, and destination reviews.  You can also follow 2BTraveling on X (Twitter), Instagram, and Blue Sky.

What are your other favorite sports to participate in?
I used to love playing softball but those days are long over.

What are your favorite sports to watch?
I would say Predators hockey but they always seemed to lose when I watched so I stopped watching.  I do enjoy going to a baseball game in person, whether MLB or MiLB, once every few years. Always fun when I (a Cardinals fan) and a good friend who is a Cubs fan can catch a game together between our favorite teams.

What crazy activities do you dream of trying someday?
Going to Antarctica

What show did you binge watch embarrassingly fast?
MI5 (known as Spooks in the UK), a British show about their domestic terrorism unit that I didn't see until it had been over for 10 years. Though it's fiction and aired 2002-2012 it's amazing how accurate some of their predictions about world events were!

What is your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving

During the pandemic did you learn a new skill or improve an old one?
For awhile I got better at bass guitar but then I started fostering dogs and then adopted one and that went out the window.
