Come join your Ski Club friends as we get to explore one of Nashville’s hidden gem parks and also tell everyone about the Ski Club! Last year we were part of over 30 sponsored booths. There will be many activities to enjoy, and some of us will get to hike! If you would like to help tell other about the ski club, we are looking for volunteers to be at the booth throughout the day. Harry Ristau has volunteered to coordinate, so please reach out to Harry at hristau@comcast.net, or call at 615.480.3966. As mentioned, there are several hiking trails and as we get closer watch for details on adding a hike to the day as well!

Join the NCS Saturday morning, April 29th, for a 9 AM, 90-minute private Nashville Ski Club tour of the Barbara J Mapp Aviary, and optional pre-tour and post-tour hikes. We will learn about the seven non-releasable birds-of-prey in residence and can see them up close and personal. The outdoor aviary is located within Radnor Lake State Park at the top of Hall Drive, off the Otter Creek Road paved footpath. The .4 mile hike up Hall Drive is also paved but steep and is accessible only by foot. From East Parking Area the aviary is a ¾ mile walk. From West Parking Area it is a 1.4-mile walk. See Radnor aviary online for a map and more information. For those going on their own, be sure to allow ample time for parking and walking. Options for hiking abound! For those wishing for an invigorating group hike, meet at West Parking lot in front of bike racks at 7:00 AM. We will hike Ganier Ridge Trail for a 3.35 mile hike to the aviary. After the tour we can return to the West Parking by road, 1.4 miles, or hike the South Cove Ridge trail, 2.5 miles. These are considered moderately challenging routes and we will take it at an easy pace. If you can ski, you can do this! There is no cost to attend. Members, please register on the ski club website. You may bring a maximum of two (2) non-members. Contact bessgormley@gmail.com with any questions. We need a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 to have our private tour. Hope you can join us.
